Riding the Pyramid began as a family brain storming idea while we were stuck in our house during one of our many snow storms this year.  The girls and I were trying to come up with a creative way to help families with their horse show expenses.

For our first project we have created six original acrylic paintings on canvas each one representing a level of the Dressage Pyramid of Training.  Each of the horses will have a little Swarovski like BLING on their bridles!

Lendon Gray's Youth Dressage Festival and The United States Pony Club are two organizations that have greatly influenced the girls.

Our first goal is to create scholarships to help young equestrians who have the talent and dedication to qualify for the Youth Dressage Festival and USPC Nationals, but not always the financial means to get there.

We would love to hear from other young equestrians about organizations that have been influential in their riding or competitions they are striving to attend.  If sales and donations are successful enough we plan to expand our scholarship program to include many youth competitions.

The SUCCESS of RIDING THE PYRAMID
depends on the sales of our artwork and donations.

ABOUT US:  I have loved horses my whole life.  I had a room full of Breyer statues and my Dad would take me trail riding whenever he could afford it.  I grasped every opportunity to be around horses and when I couldn't, I would draw them.  In High School and College I worked at several barns cleaning stalls, grooming and tacking up horses, just to afford riding lessons.  Marriage, family and a job transfer distracted me for about ten years.  In 1996, my husband, Joe, brought horses into my life with the gift of riding lessons for my 30th birthday.  Sometimes I think he dreads that gift, because it has been all about horses since then.
Chelsea began taking riding lessons in 1998, when she was six years old.  In 2000, I purchased my first horse, Duncan, a sweet, yet spooky, chestnut Thoroughbred and began working at the farm where he was stabled - again, to help support the habit.  Meghan began taking riding lessons that same year, when she was just five years old.  I had been taking Meghan up to the barn with me since she was about three so she was desperate to start lessons before her sixth birthday.  Super Trouper was the wonderful, tolerant Connemara Pony who safely taught the girls the basics of riding.  Chelsea and Meghan have several other talented school horses - Abbey, Sam and Cookie - to thank for their continued riding education.

Ten years later, for my 40th birthday, we purchased our current horse, a bay Quarter Horse named Kirby.  For the past three years the girls have both ridden Kirby in many successful competitions.  In January, we added the newest member to our Dressage family - a Connemara pony named Finn.  We are leasing him from a wonderful family we met through friendships made at Dressage4Kids.  The girls are looking forward to continuing their riding education with our current mounts and wonderful trainers.

Horses have been a family event, allowed us the opportunity to meet many wonderful people and have made Chelsea and Meghan organized, disciplined, responsible and self-confident young ladies.

I wonder what I might get for my 50th birthday - hmmm - I have a few years yet  :)
Thank you, in advance, for supporting this wonderful cause.  Our goal is to help as many young equestrians as possible.  To allow them to experience what we have through our involvement with Dressage4Kids and United States Pony Club.

Giclee (zhee-klay) The French word giclee is noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid.
The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology.  Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-based paper.  The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
